The Bitter Aloe oasis draws inspiration from the Aloe Ferox, which thrives in the Tankwa Karoo. The Aloe Ferox has been utilised by the Khoisan for its bitter sap due to their medicinal properties. For years, the Khoisan have stated that "their spears are the flowers, the leaves their shields, and stems their bodies.” The design Interprets the Aloe Ferox's features, with a geometric roof imitating its leaves and the structure aiming to blend in with the environment, ultimately camouflaging itself.
 
The oasis will seamlessly blend with the natural surroundings, akin to the Aloe. The residence aims to create a harmonious relationship with the landscape, providing a peaceful, restorative environment for its users.
